Walking Track CHMPs

Here at Dr Vincent Clark & Associates we have prepared many Cultural Heritage Management Plans for walking track projects, or ‘shared user paths’ across Victoria. Most recently we completed a CHMP on behalf of Parks Victoria for the Mullum Mullum Shared Use Path. The track is located in the Mullum Mullum Linear Park, which has the Eastlink tunnels running beneath it!

We love working on walking track projects, as they are usually in the most picturesque  locations across Victoria, and  because they are generally located in less-developed areas, there is a good chance of encountering archaeological sites.

Other walking tracks we have prepared CHMPs for in the past include:

  • Currawong Bush Park Trail Upgrade (Manningham City Council)
  • Mallacoota Narrows Walking Track (Parks Victoria)
  • Castlemaine/Campbells Creek Bicycle & Walking Tracks (Mount Alexander Shire Council)
  • Merri Creek Shared Use Path (Moreland City Council)
  • Malmsbury Common Walking Track (Macedon Ranges Shire Council)
  • Olinda Creek Footbridge (Yarra Ranges Shire Council)
  • Snowy River Estuary Walk, Marlo (Parks Victoria).

Sometimes these projects do not require a CHMP, and a cultural heritage due diligence report is more appropriate.  We have recently completed due diligence reports for a pedestrian bridge in Hepburn Springs, and a walking track in Lake Tyers. If you represent a community group, or work with a local council, and are looking at developing a walking track, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to provide advice about the best course of action for your project.
