Dr Ben Watson

Ben is a Full Member of the Australian Association of Consulting Archaeologists Inc., and a Member of the Australian Archaeological Association, Australian Rock Art Research Association, and Anthropological and Archaeological Society of Victoria. He has worked on archaeological research and heritage management projects throughout Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory, gaining extensive experience in Aboriginal rock art and site recording, excavation, and lithic artefact analysis.
Ben specialises in cognitive archaeology and palaeoart studies, and has specific research interests in the relationship between material culture, visual perception and the brain. He has published widely on rock art, neuroscience and human ethology-related topics, and received his Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne in 2009, where he has since taught in the Centre for Classics and Archaeology and School of Culture and Communication.
